2025-09-02: 237 New Believers Field Minister Training Message Lecture 1
Scripture Reading: Matthew 11:28
Why is our entire world changing into an age of disaster? We should look carefully and pray, but right now war continues in the Middle East and also in Russia. Historically, that region is originally a place to which the demon of war has attached. In fact, our country too—South and North Korea—are in a situation that requires much prayer. Meanwhile, our number of people with mental illness is rapidly increasing. Now, here is the first thing we must definitely tell our newcomers today.
「The Beginning of True Repentance」
We must understand this term well. It is the beginning of true repentance. The most important part is this: to “repent” without knowing this is generally not possible. We must know the important beginning. “Do not steal. Do not lie.”—that is common-sense talk. That is the next matter; we must tell what the beginning of true repentance is. In English it is written like this.
Turn
Turn. It means turn back. In Korean it may not be well explained. It means turn back. And not just nearby.
Away
Turn far away.
From
From where? From what?
Your Sins
It is written like this: from your sins. It does not use “crime” but uses the word “sins.” “Sin” has a religious meaning. “Crime” is assorted criminal acts, but “sins” speaks of something a bit different.
Turn away from your sins
Here it says to turn back. Then what is the thing that most does not work? You must know it yourself and also tell it to others.
– Come out from myself and to God – (Matthew 11:38)
You must come out from yourself. You must come out from yourself and go to God. This is the very first repentance. If this is not done, in fact even if you die you will not receive answers. No matter how much you try, even if you keep all the Law, you will not receive answers. You cannot keep it all, but suppose you kept it all—still you would not receive answers. I am seized by myself. If I were the Almighty, that would work, but I am not—and yet I am seized. Therefore Jesus spoke like this, because it does not work: “Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden.” Why? Because it does not work. Because nothing else works. “I will give you rest.” He said, “Come.” He said, “Come just as you are.” If the prodigal who left home had to recover and change clothes before coming home, he could not come. It means, “Just come.” Then you too must realize this, but most do not realize it. That is why it does not work.
▣ Introduction
There is something more fearful than drugs. With drugs you know it is wrong. Even those who do it hide and do it—why? Because they know it is wrong. This sin which is more fearful than drugs—people do not realize it. What is that?
Me
It is “me.” You must come out from here. Now, this will be difficult to understand. Everyone’s standard is “me.” Even what we call “grace” has “me” as the standard. I am not saying to erase even all such things. You are not coming out from that tremendous darkness called “me.” What is the answer?
[3, 6, 11]
Is it not this? Satan knew that and said, “Even if you do not believe in God, you can become like God.” That is Genesis chapter 3. In chapter 6, even though they do not believe God, power arises. Right? “All religions are the same.” If you practiced religion zealously, something arises—power. Of course it will. Is there no power when you do a shamanic rite? There is. Then somehow, when we form a clique, we feel “grace.” It is hard to sacrifice myself to go together, but when we form a clique, great strength arises. That is the Tower of Babel. “Let us” comes out. This is the Nephilim. It is the incident of the Garden of Eden. “You are a great person; become like God.” The same message is coming out even now. Therefore, if you study famous singers, there is a commonality in each country. It always shows up: “You are a great person.” And, “Let’s go together”—how good those words are! Satan attacked with such good words. In the end, they are trapped in the Nephilim. You must understand this, and newcomers must understand it. “Ah, so it is.”
1. Life
But while you are staying still, this bores in—where does it bore in? It bores into my life.
Future
And it has to do with my future. Endlessly, endlessly it bores in.
Family
It bores into the family as well.
Church
It even bores into the church. In the church too, people with low IQ or odd people—if they hear that our church is being revived—they will do anything. Whether it later collapses or not, they do it. “Ah, if we go to Darakbang, we will be revived.” They come unconditionally. “Our church is not very profitable for me?” They leave unconditionally. It cannot be helped.
Reality
Because they are caught by what is more fearful than drugs—what is called “me”—they cannot escape. What about newcomers? When I meet newcomers, I always tell them, “How did you come to church?” Then they give reasons. “No. That is not it. By God’s grace you were called.” If they cannot understand that, they keep getting caught. This bores into reality.
Work
And it bores into every matter. Everything becomes “me.” It becomes like this.
2. No answers
But the second thing you must know and teach is: it cannot but be so. You must definitely teach the second point: because there are no answers. Because I do not have the answers God gives, it cannot but be like this.
My thoughts
My thoughts. This is very fearful. You cannot help but do according to your thoughts. If my level were about being a classmate with God, fine—but it is not.
My center
Therefore I must truly receive God’s answers. If I cannot receive this, it becomes like this (3, 6, 11). It cannot be helped. Everything is my center. “Ah, for this person, what does God want?” Such a question never arises. My center. It cannot come out. In a way, it is difficult to say “not saved,” “saved,” “gospel,” “not gospel,” but from what I see, almost everyone is trapped here. Not because people are bad, but because they have not seen the answers God gives.
3:15, 6:14, 12:1-3
They should have seen this but did not. “The seed of the woman who resolves every problem of life crushed the serpent’s authority. If you enter the ark, you will live. And go to the land I will show you. Leave the land of the Chaldeans.” At first Abraham did not understand. Therefore he could only go by his thoughts and live centered on himself.
My standpoint
Thus, I end up knowing only my standpoint. Right? It is hard even to consider my own standpoint—how can I consider others’? My situation is difficult—how can I live for the church? You cannot. If elders (church leaders) are in this state, they struggle all their lives, but answers do not come. Pastors will find that ministry does not go well. It will not. They do not even know why it does not. That is why I say it is more fearful than drugs. Newcomers collapse one day. Why? Because this answer (3, 6, 11) has not come out. You must surely forum about this while praying.
My assertion
Thus, I can only assert myself. It seems like a crisis is coming. Then what is the conclusion?
My profit
“What is my profit?” You can only do so.
3. The way to live
Therefore, for newcomers, what comes out of Genesis chapters 3, 6, and 11 is the way to live. They do not even know what original sin is. This is original sin: they left God. They were seized by Satan. Yet it looks as if things are working. It looks as if they will succeed. Therefore, living with a sense of achievement, they collapse. The moment you and the newcomer hold to this covenant, the darkness cannot but be destroyed. Right? You must break it down. It is evidence that they have not seen God’s works. Then what is it? It is the state of an unbeliever. That will not do. If you are going to be like an unbeliever, at least enjoy the profit of an unbeliever and then die—but you are not an unbeliever. If you are going to be like a thief, at least steal and buy a meal. But if you are not a thief and live with the stigma of being a thief, you die extremely wronged. Therefore you must quickly give examples.
RT 7
The seven remnants. Among them, choose the one who best matches that person and explain. I mainly tell male students the stories of Joseph and David. If there is much time, it is good to tell many stories, but at least apply one person. David was enjoying this answer, so even when he was a shepherd boy, it was fine. “What will you do?” No need to worry like that. Let us be precise. Should we worry about the future? If you have not been saved, of course you should. Right? Preparing and being anxious are different. David, from childhood as a shepherd, had great success.
Therefore I tell remnants, “It is okay even if you have not discovered a talent. If God is with you, He will make you discover it.” Right? Joseph’s original talent was not being a slave. But there he succeeded. Then that is enough. The next part is what God does. “Where will I get employed?” No need to worry about such a thing. Joseph was brought everywhere by others. Right? While sitting still he was brought to Egypt; while sitting still he was sent to meet a minister; while sitting still he went to the king. That is the real thing. What need is there for my assertion? That is when there are no answers—for those not saved. We are God’s children who have been saved. It is completely different. “He has transferred us from the desert to life.” Our registered place is different. Right? The original register is different. You must tell this.
Hebrews 11
The people of Hebrews 11. Even in the Early Church there were those who did this well. Peter did it a little less.
Paul’s team
The ones who completely came out from this (3, 6, 11)—Paul’s team—did world evangelization. These people came out saying, “It is okay even if we die,” not “We will live,” but “Whether we live or die, it is okay.”
▣ Main
Now then, there are parts you must surely hold to and tell. Yes, in the main body we must look at a few things.
[Three-year public ministry – with]
What was the standard by which Jesus did His three-year public ministry? The standard by which Jesus lived His three-year public ministry was different from others. What was it? “With.” That is why I used the term “training camp.” You say, “Are there so many terms?” Well, we need terms. Should we say, “Let us do training camp,” or shall we say, “Let us be together”? It is what Jesus spoke of as the most precious: with. And He was actually together. But what is the standard?
[Training camp – daily life]
What Jesus did in training camp had the very important standard of making it become one’s daily life alone. This is the key. The blessing of being with the Lord alone must become continuous.
[Standard – 24]
Therefore that standard is 24. This is the standard. If you have understood this or if this has been done, then in fact from now on it is finished. Without needing to emphasize “Do evangelism,” if a newcomer becomes like this, doors for evangelism keep opening.
Elders (church leaders), if you are not careful, you make a slip of the tongue: “In our church these days, the evangelism movement is not taking place.” That is wrong talk. If elders and newcomers become like this, it happens automatically. God wants the life movement, not the revival movement. Right? God wants you to enjoy that the Triune God is with you, not to enjoy a sense of achievement. You must completely come out from yourself. That is the first way of repentance. Therefore you must go to God. You must definitely tell this.
As far as I know, when I first met the Christ, I realized like this. Ah. From then until now, the evangelism movement has continued even to 5,000 people groups. Is that not natural? Difficulties came? I thought they were not difficulties. God would have a plan—and upon seeing, that was right. Those with big traumas—such people have God’s great plan. “Oh, I have a big problem…”—you must not do that. But I respect my parents. They were excellent people. However, I thought we must not remain at my parents’ level. Is that arrogance? I have been told many times that it is arrogance. No. Love your family—that is good. But you must not remain at that level. Absolutely not. It must be the level God gives. I served as an associate pastor at six churches and then went into Yeongdo. Those people are most precious. But we must not remain at their level. Right? Not knowing that is arrogance. We are at the point of “Can we go to God’s level or not?”—and we must go to God’s level, not mine. You may have a sense of achievement—“Ah, this worked somewhat. Yes, hallelujah. It worked.” That may exist. You must definitely tell this.
I think the place where this part was strongest is the traditional Pharisee church. Right? Even now, when you see people who do not know the gospel well, they use the same words as the Pharisees. So much so that Jesus called the well-believing Pharisees “You brood of vipers.” Right? Brood of vipers. He even pointed it out exactly: “Your father is the devil.” These people were shocked. “What? We are children of the devil?” Right? Thus they disliked Jesus. It was a life-giving word. They should have realized, “Ah, so it is,” but they argued. They did not know the meaning of the Christ. “Your most respected ancestor Abraham believed the Christ and was saved—believed Me and was saved.” They went completely mad. “Hey, how old are You?” It came out like that. They could not understand the words at all. The Christ cannot be the Savior unless He is the Christ from eternity. Right? To save people, He came in a human body. The proof that He broke the evidence of satanic darkness was the resurrection. Then He comes as the Lord of the Second Coming and the Judge. That too, to say it precisely, He is with us and then stands as the Lord of the Second Coming and stands as the Judge. This too is misunderstood, as if Jesus ran away and comes back in hiding. Not so. They set a date for the Second Coming and devote themselves to that. New believers are shaken when they see such things. Therefore, once this answer comes out, you must tell three things. They will change.
1. Things to change
2. Things to discard. They will be discarded.
3. Things to find. However, because it is important, we should mention it once.
1. Things to change
1. The Sermon on the Mount
I have explained sufficiently. It was explained in the Sermon on the Mount. You must change. Now, the “blessing” we are describing—that is not blessing. That is chapter 5. Becoming the people of God’s kingdom is the true blessing. Prayer—“The prayer you are doing now—that is not prayer.” New believers do not know how to pray. We must teach them. What? The kingdom of God. Our worship and the life of faith we are doing is wrong. Is that not Matthew chapter 7? “You did well; I did well”—always. What kind of life of faith is that? “First remove the log in your eye.” That is the Sermon on the Mount. You must explain this seriously to newcomers. Otherwise, they will not receive answers their whole life.
2. Matthew 13
What is the second thing to change? Did He not speak Matthew 13? “What you know as enormous visible merits and achievements—that is not it. Become a tree with life though it is a very small seed.” “It may not show, but like leaven it spreads—this life.” Right? He kept saying this. Among them, the most shocking was the story of the “field.” “It just looks like working, but beneath it treasure is spread.” At the end He said another shocking thing: “Not all are saved.” He used fishermen as an example. Professional fishermen and anglers do not catch just any fish. I, for example, catch only sea bream. No matter how good the fish, I release them. And fishermen, because they are professionals, go out to catch certain fish. Then they release all the other fish. And “there is wheat and there are tares.” Jesus said, “Leave them alone. Tares also must exist. Then when you cook rice, you will have something to burn.” He spoke many things that must be changed. If you do not change, it will not do.
3. Matthew 16
They do not even know who the Messiah is. They say He is like Jeremiah. They say He is like Elijah. They say He is like John the Baptist. They say He is like one of the prophets. How would that bring salvation? It has none of those elements.
4. Matthew 17
Even after making a confession of faith. Peter said, “Let us build three tabernacles for Elijah, Moses, and You.” You must change completely.
5. Matthew 18
In Matthew 18, even after seeing that important thing, they asked, “Who is the greatest among us?” Better if they asked like that, but pretending to have faith, they asked, “When we go to heaven, who among us is the greatest?” People who torment others in a wicked way cite Scripture while doing it. Satan also tempts by citing God’s Word. Right? “Jump down from the Temple. Angels will come and bear You up.” That is in Scripture. He cited it exactly. Then how did Jesus, being aghast, respond? He called a child. He held the child. “Such as these will be the most precious in the kingdom of heaven. This is the one who is the greatest.” Up to this, we should explain.
2. Things to discard
1. Systems
From this time, things to discard come out. Systems are not unnecessary. They can be necessary at times. But you must discard this. The Jews, because of this one system, lost something too great.
2. Legalism
Is the Law needed? Yes. But it is not life. You must discard it. It is not that the Law is unnecessary. You must discard legalism. Does the Law save? It cannot. You cannot keep it all, and even if you kept it all, you cannot be saved. Why? Because original sin is not solved. God gave the way to solve original sin through the Christ.
3. Humanism
When legalism does not work well, they use humanism.
4. Mysticism
When even humanism does not work, they say, “Oh well, let’s just receive grace,” and do mysticism. “Mystery” is a good word. Right? Our salvation itself is mysterious. But not mysticism. Something that continually… this mysticism is not it. When the Word is living, why do mysticism? It is evidence that the answer of the Word has not come. It means the Word has not come to me. Right? It means answers have not come to me. If you were accepted to Seoul National University, then go—there is no need to ask, “Should I go or not?”
5. Secularism
In the end, since this and that do not work, they go to secularism. We live in the world, but that is not secularism.
3. Things to find
Things to find. After speaking of things to change and to discard, Jesus finally spoke of what must be found.
1. John 14:16
“I will send you the Helper, the Holy Spirit.”
2. John 14:26
And “He, the Holy Spirit, will make you understand.”
3. John 16:13
He kept speaking. Not only will you understand, but “He will be with you forever.”
4. John 20:22
“He breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.’”
5. 1: 3, 8
Even at the end He spoke. “When you receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit and the kingdom of God, you will be My witnesses. You will be.” “You will be My witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” It cannot but be so. Now, we must do this with newcomers, but to me the old members are more of a problem than the newcomers. The more they live the life of faith, the more they become self-centered. What need is there for my assertion in the church? That is what you say when you are not receiving answers. Please. Now you must receive what God gives as answers.
▣ Conclusion
1. Work – the reason it does not work (man-centered)
What is the reason work does not go well? You must tell it. Work should go well—what is the reason it does not? Because it is man-centered. People are precious, but not man-centered.
2. Church – anthropology
What is the reason the church does not go well? We should study about God, but we study anthropology—study about man. You must tell this.
3. Life of faith – the center
What is the true life of faith? You must teach what the life of faith that receives answers is. God-centered. Word-centered. That means God is with me. If God is not with me, and yet I say “God-centered,” that too is a lie. If you have missed the entire flow of the Word and say “Word-centered,” that is not it. Do you ride the flow of prayer? Prayer-centered. You must definitely teach this. On Sundays, while listening to the pastor’s sermon, the Word works upon me. Word-centered. Prayer—you see it working alive. Prayer-centered. Right? And then evangelism becomes visible. Evangelism-centered. Then the church becomes very important. Church-centered. People for whom the church is not important refer to it as “that church,” speaking of their own. You must make them understand what the life of faith is and what the word “center” means. It means being inside those answers. You must teach this.
Let us organize a few things and finish. When I do evangelism in the field, I have seen that 30%—one out of three—say, “Ah, I have been to church before.” Why is that? In some areas, when you go to the field, the homes themselves are psychiatric hospitals. Why is that? Why do they wander here and there without obtaining this answer in one place? It is heartbreaking. If only one among you receives this answer, you are fine wherever you are. If there are two elders (church leaders) who have this center, the church lives. Right? Why two? Because then you can have a motion and a second. Right? If one moves and another seconds, it is done. Start from now. Because you have not discarded something and have not changed yourself, you remain in your low level. Can things be done at our level? You must come out from that. Therefore you return to God. Why do people go to heresies and cults? You must give the answer. Why do they go there? It is wrong. Why do they go where they speak nonsense? Because their spiritual problems are not being solved, they are struggling. Right? Because this root is not settled, spiritual problems cannot but come. Therefore, evangelists here, do not use such terms anymore as “It will revive,” “It will not revive.” What if it does not? What if it does? Does it make sense to say evangelism—nonsensically—“works” or “does not work”? “Revival does not happen”? Of course it does not. Do not use such terms. Even if my congregation is small, if God is pleased, that is enough. Right? God works with one person; He may not work with ten thousand. While living for myself, everyone becomes a merchant. Absolutely not.
Now, there are five flows: the Word, prayer, evangelism, field, and the nation. Since you are not seeing that flow, of course it does not work. Therefore, you must give the conclusion like this.
Look through the entire Bible. Those who truly received answers in the Bible confessed like this: Not “I did this,” not “If you do like this, it will work.” “God is with me. God is with us. God is with us in this place.” You must do like that. You must even tell the characteristics of those who went into Babylonian captivity: God sent those to whom this was working. They did not even blink. Before King Nebuchadnezzar, idolatry brought death, yet they were not shaken at all. If you look at records of those martyred, they did not force themselves and endure. Like Stephen, the fullness of the Holy Spirit came upon them. Thus people like Daniel and Esther are representative figures. You must tell this. “Why did you come to church?” Give the conclusion. “If going to this church means being arrested, will you go?” They went to the Early Church. There was no other reason.
Only by the grace God gives, by salvation—they went to enjoy that blessing. It does not matter. From now on your life is your relationship with God—concretely, your relationship with the Triune God who works historically.” And if you also tell them about the seven bartizans, journey, and guidepost, it is even better. Until the afternoon, be sure to confirm that the Word, prayer, and evangelism are working alive.
Prayer. We sincerely thank God. We thank You for saving us. We thank You for leading us to proclaim the gospel to those who have still not heard the gospel. For us who still have not come out from ourselves, work so that we may go to God. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
