The Sovereignty of God

David praised the Lord in the presence of the whole assembly, saying,“Praise be to you, Lord, the God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting.Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours.Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things.your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.“But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand. (1 Chronicles 29:10-14)

The most critical element of prayer is faith in the sovereignty of God. He has hidden answers in every part of our lives.

Without acknowledging God, the Eternal, we will follow the ways of this temporary world. Without believing God owns “everything in heaven and earth,” we will worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ (Matthew 6:31).

Without faith in the Ruler of all things, including wealth and honor, we will have to compete in this world, trying to gain the things of the world. Without acknowledging all power and strength come from God, we will rely on their own strength.

Thus, without faith in God’s sovereignty, we won’t be able to overcome the power of unbelief. Unbelief leads to confusion, restlessness, fear, and all kinds of problems in life. But if we live under God’s sovereignty, all is well.

Our God is sovereign because He is the Creator of all things: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). He created us: “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:27). And He gave us life: “Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being” (Genesis 2:7). So, do not be afraid. Your life is in the hands of your Creator.

God had plans for us before the beginning of time: “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love, he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will” (Ephesians 1:4-5).

You were included in God’s family even before you were born when you did anything right or wrong! God knew you from eternity past. He called your name while you were still in your mother’s womb (Isaiah 49:1). He has set you apart for world evangelization (Jeremiah 1:5).

God has been guiding your life and will accomplish His plans for you: “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6).

God knows everything about you (Psalm 139:1-10). He gives life and takes it away. He numbers your days on earth. He can bless or curse anyone. No one can escape from His presence. He is always with you. This is wonderful knowledge for us whom God has chosen as His own.

Everything in the spiritual realms is also under His control: heaven, hell, angels, and demons. (Luke 16:19-31). One day, everyone will stand before the judgment seat of God: “Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). This is why living in the kingdom of God here on earth is the greatest blessing of all.

History belongs to God: “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14). But, tragically, a majority of people live a life that has nothing to do with the covenant of world evangelization. Ask yourself how close your life is to “His kingdom and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33).

How is then the sovereignty of God displayed in our lives today? First, God speaks and fulfills the Word:

“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth  and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:10-11)

See how God accomplishes what He desires and achieves His purpose in your life throughout the day. But how? Take in your heart the Word you received during worship at your local church and pray, holding onto God’s covenant for you. And God will “answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3).

When this happens, you will see God’s work of salvation everywhere in your life: “The Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved” (Acts 2:42). In His perfect time, “all who were appointed for eternal life” will believe (Acts 13:48). You will stand as Christ’s witness in your mission field like Peter and John: “As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20).

Living under God’s sovereignty doesn’t mean that we ignore our present reality. We rest under His wings, knowing that nothing will be able to consume us because the gospel is sufficient (Psalm 91:4). Early Christians risked their lives for the sake of the gospel. That’s how much the gospel was worth to them. They lived under God’s absolute sovereignty.

Remember that in everything, God works for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). God has plans in all circumstances of your life. You are in Christ, who shattered the power of Satan, sin, and hell for you. So, begin a new spiritual challenge!

God created everything from nothing. He predestined everything according to His perfect and pleasing will. He prepares and guides everything with His divine care (Acts 17:26). He accomplishes His eternal plans in His time (Ephesians 1:11).

God always existed throughout all eternity past. Nothing exists without Him. He does not change. He is holy and transcends everything. There is nothing too hard for Him. He is present everywhere. And yet, He is our Father who loved us and sent His only Son to die for us. He lives in us through the Holy Spirit. The blessing and power of the Triune God is with you right now.

God’s greatest gift to us is salvation, the ultimate expression of His love for us (John 3:16). The power of His love sets us free from our long-standing spiritual problems and the devastating condition of destruction.

The gospel God has given to you through Christ is complete. It is secure and eternal. So you don’t have to worry about anything. Abide in the gospel. Experience the power of the gospel. Proclaim the gospel that Jesus is the Christ where Christ is not known!

Remember, God is in control (1 Chronicles 29:10-13). All we are and have is because of Him (1 Chronicles 29:14). Nothing happens by accident in the lives of His chosen. God allows every situation in your life with a specific plan. It is God who brings every person into your life. He loves you. Continue to trust Him and His plans for your life.

Prayer. Father, I thank You for choosing me in Christ before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in Your sight. In love, You predestined me to be adopted as Your child through Jesus Christ by Your pleasure and will. Help me to restore my faith in Your salvation and Your power. I ask for the spiritual strength that I may not be controlled by what I see and hear. I pray for strength from above that I may not fall into legalism, indulgence, and my spiritual problems. I desire to enjoy the gospel to the point where my spiritual condition may be healed and restored. Help me begin a new spiritual prayer, enjoying the gospel through Your Word, gaining the strength I need in my life, and painting a picture of transforming the culture of this age. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Family Healing

Acts 16:31. They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”

The devil first targeted the family in order to bring disaster upon the entire human race (Genesis 3:1–6). He approached the first couple, Adam and Eve, with deception, causing them to doubt God’s Word and ultimately break their covenant with Him. This act resulted in a devastating separation from God. What began in a single moment of disobedience became the root of all human problems. This is known as original sin, which brought spiritual death to all people and introduced curses into the lives of individuals, families, and even entire nations.

As a result, humanity has been living under the influence of hell and under the power of the devil, often without even realizing it. This unseen spiritual reality is the fundamental reason why the family institution, originally created and blessed by God, has been continuously broken and weakened throughout history. What God designed for love, unity, and blessing has become a place of conflict, misunderstanding, and pain.

The devil continues to work today by creating division within families. He uses past wounds, generational scars, differences in family backgrounds, contrasting personalities, failures, and even unusual or traumatic experiences as entry points. When these issues are left unresolved or when we dwell on them without spiritual understanding, Satan skillfully uses them as instruments to deepen division and ultimately destroy relationships within the family.

Therefore, it is essential to recognize that these conflicts are not merely emotional or situational problems but spiritual problems that trace back to the first family (Genesis 3:1–20). The devil is a liar by nature, and, as Jesus said, he is the father of lies (John 8:44). Through deception, he gained influence over humanity and continues to distort the truth to maintain that influence.

He fills people’s hearts and minds with anxiety, fear, and confusion. The Bible describes him as a roaring lion, constantly searching for someone or some family to devour (1 Peter 5:7–8). Through powerful delusion, he leads people away from the truth and causes them to believe lies, making falsehood appear convincing and even desirable (2 Thessalonians 2:10–11).

In addition, he blinds the minds of unbelievers so that they cannot see the light of the gospel—the message of Christ that brings life and freedom (2 Corinthians 4:4–5). His strategies are often subtle. He frequently uses religion without the gospel, idolatry, superstition, and human-centered philosophies as tools to mislead individuals and families (Matthew 12:25–45). These may appear harmless or even beneficial on the surface, but ultimately, they draw people further away from the truth of God.

Furthermore, the devil operates through a vast spiritual system. He mobilizes rulers, authorities, powers of darkness, and spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:10–20). This reveals that the struggles we see in our families are connected to a much larger spiritual battle.

However, there is hope. The moment you begin to see the true root cause of your family’s conflicts, genuine healing can begin. This healing does not come from human effort alone, but from the One who has already won the victory—Jesus Christ, who crushed the head of the ancient serpent (Genesis 3:15). In Him, the power of sin and Satan has been broken.

When you begin to understand the struggles and weaknesses of your family members through this spiritual perspective, your response will change. Instead of reacting with frustration or judgment, you will be able to embrace them with the love of Christ. Together with your loved ones, by the power of Jesus Christ, your True King, you can stand against the enemy who seeks to destroy your family—and you will ultimately overcome.

There may be situations where visible healing seems slow or does not occur as you expect. Yet even in those moments, if you continue to approach your family with spiritual understanding and faith, God’s unique plans and blessings will be revealed through your life. God is always at work, even in circumstances that seem unresolved.

Consider Hosea, who continued to love and embrace his wife Gomer despite her unfaithfulness. Through that painful experience, Hosea came to understand the heart of God more deeply, and his life became a powerful message that impacted an entire nation.

David also understood the spiritual background of his wife, Michal, and his father-in-law, King Saul. Even when Saul repeatedly tried to kill him, David refused to take revenge. Instead, he entrusted everything to God and desired restoration rather than destruction.

Think also of Joseph. During his years of slavery and suffering in Egypt, he did not hold bitterness toward his brothers who had sold him. Instead, he recognized God’s greater plan, confessing that it was God who had sent him ahead to save many lives (Genesis 45:1–8). His spiritual perspective and complete reliance on God’s sovereignty transformed his pain into a testimony of His providence.

When you begin to view the struggles within your family as part of God’s greater purpose, you will become like Paul, who experienced God’s sufficient grace even in the midst of ongoing trials and weaknesses (2 Corinthians 12:1–10). Rather than being overcome by circumstances, you will find strength in God’s presence.

Make Jesus the Lord of your family (John 2:1–11). Help your family fix their eyes on Him alone, the author and perfecter of faith (Hebrews 12:2). Let everything you do—as a family—be done in the name of Jesus Christ (Colossians 3:17). As this happens, your home will not only experience healing but will also become a channel of blessing to others.

Your family will become a family of witnesses, like the jailer’s household, who experienced salvation together and became a testimony of God’s grace to others.

Prayer. Father, help my family and me to serve You alone. Open our eyes to see the true spiritual reality behind our struggles. Fill us with the love of Christ so that we may understand and embrace one another. Make our home a family of witnesses that proclaims the good news of healing through Your Son, Jesus Christ, to the families of the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Happy Family

That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. (Genesis 2:24)

Families are under attack all over the world. The devil has been targeting our families from the beginning of time (Gen 3:1-20). We see the divorce rate skyrocketing all over the place, and the children of the divorce are suffering from various spiritual and emotional scars, leading to major social issues in our times. And yet, the church cannot offer the fundamental solution and healing in the gospel.

God considers families very important. He created male and female in His own image and blessed them (Gen 1:27-28). He established the institution of family (Gen 2:22-24). Man and woman would become one. So they are no longer two, but one. God has joined them together (Mt 19:4-6).

To experience joy and happiness in the family, God commanded the wives to be willing to serve their husbands the same as the Lord and the husbands to love their wives the same as Christ loved the church and gave His life for it (Eph 5:22-25).

God also gave children to the family to be “fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it” (Gen 1:28). He blessed them with a promise: “You must honor and respect your father and your mother. Do this so that you will have a full life in the land that the Lord your God gives you” (Ex 20:12).

God wants our children to develop into mature persons like Jesus, full of wisdom and God’s blessing (Lk 2:40). Thus, parents should make every effort to help their children grow physically, intellectually, spiritually, and socially (Lk 2:52).

The family is God’s vital instrument to carry the gospel to the world. That is why it is critical to build our families on the foundation of the Word. We should not follow the standards of the world: “It is better to be poor and respect the Lord than to be rich and have many troubles. It is better to eat a little where there is love than to eat a lot where there is hate” (Prov 15:16-17). Unity through the gospel and experiencing the power of the gospel should be of the utmost importance for our families.

God has unique plans for our families: “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household”(Ac 16:31). God planned to save Noah’s family through the Ark, the Christ (Gen 7:1-13).

If you have unbelieving family members, do not be discouraged. Try to see them through the lens of the gospel and embrace them with God’s love. Never stop praying for them.

Do not compromise with the standards of the world. Confess your faith before the Lord and the people as Joshua has done: “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord” (Jos 24:15). God’s time for salvation will eventually come to your family.

Prayer. Father, I thank You for our families. Strengthen our love for one another and keep us as one so we can show the world the power of Your Son that can heal them and their families. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Physical Healing

Matthew 8:14-17. When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him. When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.”

The whole world is sick—spiritually (Ephesians 2:1), mentally (Matthew 11:28–30), and physically (Matthew 8:15–17). This broken condition is not accidental. The root cause is recorded in Genesis 3:1–20: humanity’s separation from God, the curse of sin, and the dominion of Satan. Since that moment, all people have been born into a state of separation, suffering, and bondage that they cannot resolve on their own.

For this reason, God sent the One who was completely free from original sin to crush the head of the ancient serpent (Genesis 3:15). His name is Jesus. He is the eternal God, who existed from eternity, yet came in the flesh to dwell among us (John 1:14). He died on the cross to save us from the curse of sin and hell, and He rose again from the dead, breaking the power of Satan once and for all. He now reigns in authority and will return as the righteous Judge to bring His people into eternal glory. He is the Christ, the Anointed One.

Jesus fully accomplished the work of the Christ (Matthew 16:13–20). He is the True King who destroyed the work of the devil (1 John 3:8), the True Priest who offered Himself once for all—the righteous for the unrighteous (1 Peter 3:18), and the True Prophet who opened a new and living way to meet God (Hebrews 10:20). In Him, every fundamental problem of mankind has been completely resolved.

When you believe and trust in Christ alone, true spiritual healing begins in your life (Matthew 17:1–8). This healing is not superficial or external—it is a restoration of your relationship with God and your identity as His child. All authority in heaven and on earth belongs to Christ (Matthew 28:18), and He has promised to fill you with the Holy Spirit. Through the Spirit, you are given power to overcome sin, the world, and the forces of darkness. As a result, your life becomes a testimony—a witness to the healing and salvation found in Christ (Acts 1:8).

When you come to Christ, He will give true rest to your heart and mind. The burdens you once carried are lifted, and your life in Him will become light and full of grace (Matthew 11:28–30). Even your past wounds, failures, and scars are not wasted; God will transform them into testimonies of His peace and guidance (Philippians 4:6–7). What once brought pain can now reveal His faithfulness.

Christ Jesus will continue to work in your life by driving out the forces of darkness and establishing the kingdom of God through the Holy Spirit (Matthew 12:25–45). His presence will bring freedom, order, and restoration. He will fill your life with thanksgiving and joy (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18), and He will reshape your past into a masterpiece that can be used to save and serve others.

Therefore, abandon all idols in your life (Exodus 20:4–5). Idols are not only physical objects but anything that takes the place of God in your heart. Turn away from empty religion and legalism, which rely on human effort rather than God’s grace. Do not depend on human traditions or deceptive philosophies (Colossians 2:8), but renew your thoughts and ways through the truth of the gospel.

Do not be anxious about anything, for God cares for you. Remain spiritually alert, knowing that your adversary, the devil, seeks to deceive and discourage (1 Peter 5:7–8). Maintain a healthy spiritual life by continually fixing your eyes on Christ alone, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).

If you are facing physical illness, understand that even this can become a God-ordained opportunity to experience His power and the filling of the Holy Spirit. Rather than losing heart, let it draw you closer to Christ and His kingdom. Build your life firmly on the Word of God, which penetrates deeply and brings true transformation (Hebrews 4:12).

Allow the Spirit of God to take hold of your entire being—your spirit, heart, mind, and body (Ephesians 5:18). As you are filled with the Holy Spirit, and as you also care for your body through medical help, healthy nutrition, exercise, and prayerful breathing, you will be strengthened to face and overcome physical challenges. In this process, God will establish you as a witness to His healing power for the world.

Ultimately, God is not only healing you for your own sake but also preparing you to bring His healing to others. Your life becomes a channel through which His grace flows to those who are still suffering and searching.

Prayer. Father, I thank You for bringing true and lasting healing to my spirit, mind, and body through Christ, who bore my diseases and carried my sicknesses. Help me to hold firmly to the gospel and to rely on the Holy Spirit each day. Use my life as a testimony of Your grace and as a vessel to bring Your healing to the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Mental Healing

Acts 16:16-18. Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a female slave who had a spirit by which she predicted the future. She earned a great deal of money for her owners by fortune-telling. 17 She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved.” 18 She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so annoyed that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” At that moment the spirit left her.

Mental illnesses are real and widespread, affecting every level of society and quietly destroying the lives of individuals, families, and communities. In the United States alone, billions of dollars are spent each year on mental health care. Yet despite these efforts, many still struggle without experiencing true and lasting healing. This reveals that while treatment may address symptoms, the root issue often remains unresolved.

Scripture teaches that the deepest cause of human suffering is separation from God, the true source of life, peace, and joy. People may gain success, possessions, or recognition, yet still feel empty and restless inside. In their search for happiness, they turn to various things—relationships, achievements, entertainment—but these provide only temporary relief. The Bible explains why this is the case: humanity remains under the power of the devil, the curse of sin, and spiritual darkness, unable to break free on its own (Acts 10:38).

But God so loved the world that God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to address this fundamental problem. Jesus came not merely to comfort us, but to destroy the work of the devil (1 John 3:8) and restore our relationship with God. He invites all who are weary and burdened, saying, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28). This rest is not superficial—it is a restoration and healing of the soul that the world cannot provide.

Like Paul in Today’s Word, when you come to truly know who Jesus is and understand the spiritual authority God has given you, the forces of darkness begin to lose their hold. What once seemed overwhelming starts to collapse, not by human strength, but by the power of Christ at work within you.

If you or someone in your family is struggling with severe mental challenges, hold on to this truth: God has not abandoned you. He has a specific and absolute plan even in the midst of difficulty. Bring your situation before Him and anchor yourself in His Word. The Bible declares that the Word of God is living and active, able to reach the deepest parts of our being and bring true transformation:

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12).

As you meditate on it, it begins to heal not only your thoughts, but your inner life. Stay rooted in the Word that is proclaimed through your local church (Acts 2:42–47; Acts 11:19–30). Through the guidance of ministers and the fellowship of believers, continue to nourish your soul, heart, and mind (Acts 13:1–12; Acts 16:16–18; Acts 19:8–20).

Develop a consistent rhythm of prayer, making it the center of your daily life, and establish a life of worship in all that you do. As a family, stand together in faith, supporting one another and engaging in the spiritual battle with unit.

Ultimately, true victory over mental suffering comes through Christ (Acts 1:1), the kingdom of God (Acts 1:1), and the work of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8). God has promised power from above, not only for your healing but so that your life can become a testimony. Through you and your family, His healing can reach others and bring hope to all nations.

Prayer. Father, You know me completely, even the deepest parts of my heart and mind. I come before You just as I am. I entrust my life to You and to Your living Word. Let Your Word penetrate and heal my soul and spirit, my thoughts and attitudes, even the hidden wounds within me. Fill me with Your peace and restore me by Your grace. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Healing of Life

Matthew 12:25-29. Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. 26 If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand? 27 And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your people drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. 28 But if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

29 “Or again, how can anyone enter a strong man’s house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house.

Matthew 12:43-45. “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. 45 Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.”

Spiritual healing begins when you rely entirely on the covenant of God—that is, Christ. This healing does not come through effort, discipline, or self-improvement, but through faith in what God has already accomplished through Christ. Only when you live by faith in Christ alone will the forces of darkness finally collapse in your life. Only when you are filled with the Holy Spirit will you be able to overcome your weaknesses, the world, and your enemy, the devil, and experience true freedom within.

Only when prayer becomes your life—your spiritual breathing—will you be able to experience the presence of God in all circumstances. Prayer is not limited to specific times but becomes the rhythm of your entire life. Only when you live a life of witness for Christ, naturally testifying of Him in all that you do, will you finally discover your reason for living and the meaning of your existence.

When this takes place, the devil cannot touch you through the problems of your heart and mind. Even though difficulties may still arise, they will no longer control or define you. God has already turned all your scars, failures, and troubles of the past into blessings. They have become God’s ordained opportunities not only to heal you but also to save lives through you. In time, these very things will become the reason for your singing and thanksgiving, as you see God’s greater plan unfold.

God desires to heal our spirits, hearts, and minds, as well as our lives as a whole. His healing is complete and holistic, reaching every part of who we are (Hebrews 4:12). However, the greatest obstacle to living a life of faith is idols—our own thoughts, philosophies, convictions, religion, and legalism, including all forms of physical idols. These are not always obvious, yet they subtly take the place of God in our lives and hinder the work He desires to do within us.

Unseen to our eyes, these idols occupy our hearts and minds and begin to dictate our speech and actions. They shape our decisions, influence our emotions, and direct the course of our lives without us even realizing it. Unable to escape the reality of these idols, many believers experience a vicious cycle of spiritual instability, repeatedly struggling with the same issues without finding lasting freedom.

For this reason, we must first escape from our religious environment when it becomes an obstacle to the gospel. For Nicodemus, religion was the greatest barrier to his coming to eternal life. Completely blinded by his religious achievements and pious life, he could not understand why spiritual rebirth was necessary (John 3:1–12). His example shows how even sincere devotion can become a hindrance when it replaces true faith in Christ alone.

In the same way, many people today are also caught in legalism. The law is God’s Word, but legalism is an idol that distorts its purpose. Giving tithes, for instance, is God’s Word, but giving tithes religiously in an attempt to earn God’s favor turns it into legalism. What was meant to be an expression of faith and thanksgiving becomes a burden. Legalism is detestable to God and becomes a burden to Him as well (Isaiah 1:13–14), because it replaces relationship with ritual driven by selfish motive and calculation.

Many believers also place compassionate attitudes, all forms of godliness, and religious zeal before the gospel itself. While these may appear good on the surface, they can subtly replace the centrality of Christ. Some follow the principle of positive thinking, trusting in human optimism, while others fall into pessimism and despair. Both extremes shift the focus away from Christ. All of these create a toxic spiritual environment that prevents true healing and growth.

Furthermore, we need healing in our environment, which is often filled with idols. These include anything we make and elevate—such as statues or images of anything in the sky, on the earth, or in the waters below (Exodus 20:4–5). While these may seem external, they influence our inner world, making us “participants with demons” (1 Corinthians 10:20). The environment we live in shapes our thoughts and spiritual condition more than we realize.

Therefore, we must stop clinging to what we once believed if it is not centered on Christ—“hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ” (Colossians 2:8). Letting go of these things is not loss, but freedom. It is the necessary step toward experiencing the truth that sets us free.

At the same time, we should also stop placing church authority above the gospel and the Word. No organization, no matter how important, is above the authority of Scripture. When traditions or systems take precedence over the gospel, they become obstacles rather than helps. We must always choose the gospel over practices of piety, and the power of the gospel over a mere form of godliness (2 Timothy 3:5).

To understand the root of this more clearly, listen to what Jesus says in Today’s Word. It is Satan who causes division and all kinds of conflict (Matthew 12:25–29). He uses all forms of idols as his primary instruments of destruction, working subtly and persistently. He knows very well that idolatry leaves people’s lives dry and empty, making them vulnerable. His strategy is to intensify idolatry so that the final condition of people becomes worse than the first (Matthew 12:43–45).

This is why, in conclusion, we must rely only on Christ (Acts 1:1), only on the kingdom of God (Acts 1:3), and only on the Spirit of God (Acts 1:8). Nothing else can bring true life or lasting change. Do not leave your heart, mind, and life dry and empty, open to the enemy’s influence. Instead, fill them continually with the Word of God. Never stop enjoying the good news that Jesus is the Christ, the ultimate answer to all your problems, and the source of true healing and life.

Prayer. Father, I thank You for healing my life, once filled with idols, by the power of Your Spirit. May Your kingdom come into my life today and be established in every part of me. Drive out all the demons that seek to devour my life and keep me bound. Fill my spirit, heart, and mind with Your Word, and lead me by Your Spirit. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

Healing of the Heart

Matthew 11:28-30. Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Scripture teaches that all people are born with a deadly condition—spiritual death (Ephesians 2:1). This condition is not merely behavioral. It is rooted in separation from God and affects the very core of our being. From early childhood, this problem begins to take shape. In the toddler years, it quietly forms beneath the surface. During the primary years, it becomes more visible through thoughts, emotions, and actions. By adolescence, these hidden issues begin to surface more clearly, often expressed through inner conflict, insecurity, and rebellion. By the time individuals reach college and young adulthood, their minds and hearts can become deeply influenced and even dominated by long-standing spiritual struggles.

Because of this, if you are experiencing continual conflict, it is not random. It may be traced back to wounds from your past—your family background, upbringing, failures, disappointments, or even certain traumatic or defining experiences. When these issues are left unresolved and continually dwelt upon, they do not remain neutral. Instead, they can become instruments that the enemy uses, gradually shaping your thoughts, emotions, and decisions, ultimately working to weaken and, if left unchecked, destroy your life.

In fact, Scripture clearly reveals the active work of the enemy. The devil continually seeks to devour you (1 Peter 5:7–8). He stirs up anxiety and unrest within you (Philippians 4:6–7), attempting to keep your mind unsettled and distracted. He looks for opportunities to gain a foothold in your thoughts and attitudes—especially through unresolved anger (Ephesians 4:20–27), slowly building strongholds over time. He blinds your spiritual eyes so that you cannot clearly see the truth of the gospel (2 Corinthians 4:4–5), and he even brings powerful delusion, causing people to believe what is false as though it were true (2 Thessalonians 2:10–11).

However, this is not the end of the story. These very problems can be completely reinterpreted when seen through the lens of the gospel. What the enemy intends for harm, God can transform for good. Your struggles can become God-ordained opportunities to reveal His power, grace, and faithfulness in your life. Not only that, but they can also become the very platform through which you understand and save others who are walking through similar pain. As you seek God in the midst of your struggles, He will reveal His absolute plans, directions, and the specific mission He has prepared for your life.

To understand how this transformation is possible, you must fix your eyes on who Jesus is. Your True Priest, Jesus Christ, came to give rest to your mind and heart. He did not come merely to sympathize with your burdens—He came to carry them. On the cross, He bore not only your sins but also the weight of your pain, wounds, and brokenness. Therefore, consider the hostility He endured from sinful people, so that you will not grow weary or lose heart (Hebrews 12:3). Your healing begins when you recognize that what you are trying to carry has already been carried by Him.

Furthermore, your True King, Jesus, has already destroyed the power of the enemy who once held you captive and forced you to carry burdens you were never meant to bear. You are no longer under that authority. Therefore, instead of returning to those burdens, take upon yourself the yoke of your True Prophet, Jesus Christ, who is the Light in the darkness of your life. His yoke is not one of oppression of religion, but of way, truth, and life. In Him, you are invited to enjoy the gospel of peace and true rest (Matthew 11:28–30).

In light of this spiritual reality, you must now live differently. Do not forget to put on the full armor of God. Guard your mind with the helmet of salvation. Protect your heart with the breastplate of righteousness. Stand firm with the belt of truth. Raise the shield of faith to extinguish the enemy’s attacks. Take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. And walk forward with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace (Ephesians 6:10–17). This is essential for daily victory.

This battle is fought and sustained through prayer. Engage in prayer on all occasions (Ephesians 6:18), not as a religious duty or occasional practice, but as a living relationship with God. As you do, something remarkable happens: God begins to turn even your problems into reasons for thanksgiving. What once discouraged you becomes a testimony of His work. Thanksgiving becomes a powerful spiritual weapon, one that breaks the enemy’s schemes and restores your perspective.

Therefore, do not give up. No matter how long the struggle has lasted, God’s promise remains sure: the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet (Romans 16:20). Your battle has an end, and your victory is certain in Christ.

Prayer. Lord, I thank You for bringing true rest to my life through Jesus Christ. Help me to see my struggles through the gospel and to rely completely on You. Use my life as a channel of Your healing, so that I may proclaim the gospel of peace to those with broken hearts and troubled minds. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Spiritual Healing

Galatians 2:20. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Why do the people of religion perish? They do not know, accept, or believe the good news that Jesus is the Christ. What, then, is the reason for the continual failure of many believers? Simply put, to them, the good news that Jesus is the Christ is not everything.

Because of this, their old self still lives and rules their lives. Christ is not the Lord of their lives. They are still sitting on the throne. They do not live by faith in Christ alone, but continue holding on to something else. As a result, they cannot escape their spiritual problems.

This ongoing struggle is not without cause. Scripture warns us that the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for believers to devour (1 Peter 5:8). At the same time, we are commanded not to give the devil a foothold (Ephesians 4:27). The enemy constantly seeks to trap us through idols, ideologies, philosophy, religion, humanism, anxiety, and jealousy.

Consequently, many believers find themselves tired and weary, burdened by struggles they cannot overcome. They carry heavy loads without experiencing true rest in Christ. The gospel, which should be light and freeing, no longer feels that way to them (Matthew 11:28–30). What they truly need is spiritual healing.

So where does this healing come from? Spiritual healing comes only from complete reliance on God’s covenant—namely, His Word. The Word of God is alive and active. It is sharper than any double-edged sword and pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart (Hebrews 4:12).

When this Word takes root and only Christ remains in our lives, something remarkable happens: all the power of the enemy collapses (John 17:1–8). Furthermore, it is only by the power of the Holy Spirit that we are able to overcome the world (Acts 1:8).

In order for this to become a reality in our lives, there is a path we must take. Only by living a life of continual prayer will everything be restored. And only by living as Christ’s witnesses will we come to know God’s perfect time, plans, and answers (Acts 2:1–47).

Therefore, do not be deceived by the devil. He is always against the truth. There is no truth in him—everything he says is a lie. He is the father of lies (John 8:44). Do not let him deceive you through long-standing spiritual problems. Instead, hold on to Christ alone. Make Christ your Christ. Make the gospel your gospel.

At the same time, do not be deceived by your old self. You can be completely honest before God. You cannot—and do not need to—hide anything from Him. If you think you can, you are only deceiving yourself. You will reap from your own spiritual problems. Rather, rely on the power of the blood of Christ. That is the only way to stop living to satisfy your sinful nature. Live to please the Spirit, and you will reap eternal life (Galatians 6:7–8).

In addition, do not be deceived by your present circumstances. What you see is not the end, no matter how miserable or hopeless it may seem. Nothing is impossible for God, who has given you the only name by which you must be saved (Romans 7:24–25).

Seen correctly, your present circumstances are not obstacles but God-ordained opportunities. Every hardship is an instrument God uses for your blessing. When you are in trouble, recognize that it is God’s perfect time to fill you with the Holy Spirit.

Above all, remember who dwells within you. Your True King, Jesus—who destroyed the works of the devil—lives in you. Your True Priest—who broke the curse of sin over you—lives in you. Your True Prophet—who opened the way from hell to heaven—lives in you.

For this reason, do not worry about anything. Do not let spiritual problems trap you any longer. Instead, live by faith in the Son of God, who loved you and gave Himself for you.

Finally, consider the example of Paul. Why did God use him? He sought out the remnants and preached the gospel to them, and he carried out a ministry of healing. This shows us something essential: we must first be healed by the power of the gospel and then bring that healing to others. Without this, evangelism and missions become practically impossible.

So embrace this truth in your heart.

Prayer. Father, thank You for healing my spirit and soul through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Help me to hold on to only Your Word, only Christ, only the Holy Spirit, only prayer, and only evangelism throughout my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Convinced of the Gospel

2 Timothy 3:14-17.  But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Prayer should not follow your life; rather, your life should follow prayer. Life itself must become prayer. Prayer is not meant to be your last resort—it is meant to be your first response, your constant rhythm, and your very way of living.

Prayer is not something you turn to only in moments of trouble. It is not a tool to fix circumstances or improve your situation. That kind of prayer remains at the level of religion. True prayer goes far beyond that.

Prayer is the enjoyment of God. It is a relationship, a fellowship, and a continual communion with Him. In the morning, you seek Him as your first priority (Psalm 5:3). Throughout the day, you walk with Him as your Shepherd who leads and provides (Psalm 23:1–6). In the evening, you reflect and are refined in His presence (Psalm 17:3). And in all things, at all times, you remain in prayer (Ephesians 6:18).

Learn the secret of having true “downtime” with God—set-apart moments where you deeply enjoy His presence. King David discovered the joy and strength that came from such time with God. Daniel held onto the covenant and prayed three times a day, even when it meant facing death (Daniel 6:10).

In Scripture, we see that this kind of prayer leads to divine encounters and God’s work being revealed. Peter and John, while going to the temple to pray, encountered a crippled beggar through whom God displayed His power (Acts 3:1–10). Philip, in the flow of obedience and prayer, was led to meet the Ethiopian official and share the gospel (Acts 8:26–40). Ananias, during his time with God, received direction to meet Saul—who would become Paul, one of the greatest evangelists in history (Acts 9:10–16).

Make your downtime with your Father the most joyful and life-giving part of your day. Let prayer become not just something you do, but who you are.

When you pray, hold firmly to the Word of God recorded in Scripture (1 Timothy 3:14). These are not merely ancient writings—they are the living words of prophecy that have been fulfilled, are being fulfilled, and will surely be fulfilled.

Blessing belongs to the one who reads, hears, and obeys the Word of God (Revelation 1:3). The Word of God stands forever (Isaiah 40:8). Not even the smallest letter or stroke will pass away until everything is accomplished (Matthew 5:17–18).

Scripture is complete and perfect (Deuteronomy 4:2). Nothing can be added, and nothing should be taken away. Those who distort it face serious consequences (Revelation 22:18–19). The Word of God is like a lamp to your feet and a light to your path, guiding every step you take (Psalm 119:105).

You do not need to rely on the things of this world, for God’s Word of grace is sufficient to build you up and establish you (Acts 20:32). It is also the most powerful weapon against Satan, as seen when Jesus overcame every temptation through the Word (Matthew 4:1–11).

Through Scripture, your spiritual eyes are opened. You begin to understand the true condition of the world—that humanity is under the influence of Satan, bound by sin, and destined for separation from God (Genesis 3:1–15; Ephesians 2:1–3). At the same time, you come to see God’s answer: the promise of the Christ, given from the very beginning (Genesis 3:15).

Based on the testimony of Scripture, you can be certain that Jesus is the Christ—the One who fulfilled every prophecy concerning Him, including the promise of the virgin birth and the salvation of His people (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:21). Scripture also assures you that the Holy Spirit now dwells within you, teaching, guiding, and empowering your life (John 14:26–27; Romans 8:2).

This is the very purpose of Scripture: that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing, you may have life in His name (John 20:31).

Everything written in the past was written to teach you, to give you endurance, encouragement, and hope (Romans 15:4). The events recorded in Scripture serve as examples, warning you not to pursue the empty desires of the world (1 Corinthians 10:6).

Therefore, receive the Word of God as though your life depends on it—because it truly does. Store it deep within your heart (Psalm 119:11), and let it shape your thoughts, decisions, and direction.

In every circumstance, lay aside worry and turn to prayer with faith in the Word of God. As you go deeper into communion with Him, you will experience His power—the power to overcome the world, to transcend circumstances, and to stand firm in any situation. You will begin to see clear and undeniable evidence of God’s presence and work in your life.

Prayer. Father, I thank You for meeting with me today. Help me to continue in what I have learned from Your Word and to become fully convinced of it. Lead me to make prayer my life and to enjoy You in every moment. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Living with the Word

1 Peter 2:2. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.

The Bible provides an undeniable testimony about the past. It reveals the fundamental problem of mankind—original sin, Satan, and hell—how it began, what consequences followed, and what God has done to resolve it. It answers why God’s covenant of Christ is the only solution and shows how one can be saved. Only Scripture fully explains these essential questions of human existence, giving us a true understanding of where everything went wrong and how God has been working from the beginning to restore what was lost.

The Bible also speaks with clarity about the present. What happens when a person believes in Jesus as the Christ? How can one experience the blessings of heaven even while living on earth? How can we live with true purpose, engage in spiritual battle, and overcome the world? Scripture provides the answer to every problem we face in life, guiding us not only in belief but also in daily living, relationships, decisions, and spiritual growth.

In addition, the Bible gives direction for the future. Where is this fallen world heading? What are the signs of the end times? What is God’s plan for the spread of the gospel that will overcome disasters and darkness? What must the church do, and how should believers live in this age of confusion? Scripture opens our eyes to what is to come, removing fear and uncertainty by revealing God’s sovereign plan and ultimate victory.

Such comprehensive answers about the past, present, and future are possible because of the divine origin of Scripture. The Holy Spirit, the Author of Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16), guided about forty individuals over a span of 1,500 years to record God’s Word. These writers, though different in background, culture, and time period, were united under God’s inspiration. Therefore, Scripture stands as one unified message—nothing missing, nothing out of place—just as God promised (Isaiah 34:16).

At its core, the Bible proclaims one message: Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. From beginning to end, Scripture tells one story—God’s love for the world, revealed in the giving of His Son, so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). As Jesus Himself declared, “these are the very Scriptures that testify about me” (John 5:39). Every passage, whether directly or indirectly, points to this central truth and invites us to respond in faith.

This message is revealed through the work of the Triune God: God the Father, who planned salvation from the beginning; God the Son, who accomplished it through His death and resurrection; and God the Holy Spirit, who applies that salvation by giving new life to those who believe. Scripture is the story of God’s unchanging love for mankind, showing how each Person of the Trinity works perfectly together to fulfill the plan of redemption.

This redemptive work begins with creation. Scripture shows us how God uniquely made humanity in His image (Genesis 1:27–28), giving us identity, purpose, and the ability to have a relationship with Him. It also reveals the origin of all human problems—the Fall (Genesis 3:1–6), when deceived by Satan, mankind chose to turn away from God. Since then, humanity has lived under the power of sin, Satan, and death, separated from God and unable to restore itself.

In response to this fallen state, and because of His love, God called Abraham and established a covenant with him and his descendants (Genesis 12:1–3). Through this covenant, God began to unfold His plan of salvation in history. Throughout the Old Testament, He continually pointed His people to the coming of Christ through promises, prophecies, sacrifices, and events that foreshadowed the Savior.

When the time was fulfilled, the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14). Jesus came to give His life on the cross, securing eternal redemption (Hebrews 9:12) and fully accomplishing what no one else could do. Through His death and resurrection, He broke the power of sin and Satan. He is the Christ, our Lord, the only Savior who fulfills God’s covenant.

Following His finished work, even now, God continues His work of salvation through the church as the gospel of the kingdom is proclaimed to all nations. Believers are called to participate in this mission, carrying the message of Christ to the ends of the earth. And when this gospel has reached every nation, the end will come (Matthew 24:14), bringing God’s redemptive plan to its completion.

Scripture also declares that Christ will return. There will be a final judgment, where all things are brought to light, and God’s kingdom will be fully established (Revelation 21:1–27). On that day, all suffering, sin, and death will come to an end, and God’s people will dwell with Him forever in perfect restoration and joy.

In light of this eternal plan and future hope, the Word of God nourishes our spirit. Like newborn infants who long for milk, those who are born again crave the Word, through which they grow and are strengthened. The Word sustains our faith, renews our minds, and continually draws us deeper into our relationship with God.

We do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). To receive the Word is to meet with God Himself, to hear His voice, and to be guided by His truth. It is through the Word that we gain wisdom, direction, and the strength to live according to His will.

Even today, God works through His Word. He has given us the Holy Spirit so that we may understand it, and the Spirit reminds us of the Word in times of need. Through this ongoing work, God continues to speak, guide, convict, and comfort His people in every circumstance.

Therefore, hold firmly to the promises God has given you through His Word. Seek His answers in every situation of life, trusting that His Word is sufficient and true. As you rely on it daily, you will begin to see God’s guidance and faithfulness more clearly.

Let the Word guard your heart and mind. Let it lead you on paths you have never walked before. Let it bring healing to your soul, spirit, body, thoughts, and attitudes (Hebrews 4:12). As you continue to hold onto it, you will see that God is faithful to fulfill every promise He has spoken, and His Word will surely be accomplished in your life:

As the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:10-11)

Prayer. Father, I thank You for the Word of life. Let Your Word bring healing to my soul, spirit, and body, even renewing my thoughts and attitudes. Help me to hold onto Your Word and follow it throughout the day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
