1 Corinthians 3:16. Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?
The greatest curse of all is to live life without God. Humanity was created as a spiritual being, and what made people truly alive was the breath of God—the Spirit of God—which was the greatest blessing of all. God created mankind in His own image, just a little lower than Himself, and gave them authority to rule over all creation. They were made to live in relationship with God, depending on Him, enjoying Him, and glorifying Him.
This relationship was rooted in a covenant. God gave a clear promise: life with the Spirit of God or death without the Spirit of God. Tragically, Adam and Eve broke that covenant by choosing to side with the devil. As a result, every person born since then has been born spiritually dead, separated from the Spirit of God. Life apart from the Spirit is subject to Satan’s power, the effects of disasters, and the reality of hell.
From that moment on, all people have lived under the curse—spiritually dead, living as children of the devil, worshiping false gods and idols, suffering mentally and physically, facing eternal separation in hell, and passing down spiritual curses to the next generation. No one and nothing in this world could restore what was lost. Nothing could bring mankind back to life.
But compelled by His great love, God Himself came to restore the greatest blessing of all—His presence with us. He became man. He fulfilled the promise of Immanuel—God with us. Jesus came to restore what had been lost, to deliver us from the power of Satan, from the weight of disaster, and from the grip of hell. He died on the cross and rose again, completing the work of Christ so that we might once again be with God.
Jesus made a promise to those who would believe in Him as the Christ: that He would ask the Father to send the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, to be with them forever. Though the world cannot accept Him or understand Him, those who believe know Him, because He lives with them and in them.
If you believe that Jesus is the Christ, then the Holy Spirit lives in you. You belong to Christ, and nothing and no one can stand against you. When you received Jesus as your Savior and Lord, He came into your heart and made His home there. He will never leave you. No one can snatch you out of His hand or the hand of the Father.
Do not let your weaknesses deceive you. Do not be led astray by the world or by the lies of Satan. You are God’s temple. His Spirit lives in you, and nothing can destroy what God has established. Do not lean on your own understanding. Your old life has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer you who live, but Christ who lives in you.
You may feel fragile—like a jar of clay—but inside you is the greatest treasure of all: Christ in you, the hope of glory. The power that sustains you is not your own; it is the all-surpassing power of God. Jesus, who has been given all authority in heaven and on earth, has promised to be with you always, even to the end of the age.
With that promise, He sends you out into the world to proclaim the gospel to all nations. He will work with you and confirm His Word with signs that follow. You are not lacking in anything. Through Christ, you have received the greatest blessing of all—God with you.
Prayer. Lord Jesus, I thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to be with me. There is no greater blessing. I will not be lost again, because the Holy Spirit testifies to who I am in You. I will not be afraid, because the Holy Spirit strengthens me with the power of God. I will no longer live without direction, because the Holy Spirit is guiding me as Your witness to the ends of the earth. In Your precious name, Amen.
