John 17:11-12. I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. 12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.
The name of Jesus Christ was prophesied for thousands of years. All prophecies concerning Him were recorded in the 39 books of the Old Testament—and Jesus fulfilled every one of them!
That’s why His name is above every name. At the name of Jesus, every knee will bow—in heaven, on earth, and under the earth (Philippians 2:9–10). It is truly a remarkable name.
Throughout history, every nation that called on His name was spared from disaster and experienced incredible blessings. The name of Jesus has transformed everything—ideologies, philosophies, politics, economies, and cultures.
Anyone who understands the power of Jesus’ name can impact lives around the world (Acts 1:8). Even in the face of hardship and persecution, the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God overcomes the world (1 John 5:4–5).
God has given us the most powerful name. When we rejoice in His name, pray in His name, and give thanks in all circumstances through the power of His name, we will witness the amazing works of God in our lives (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18).
The world is full of deception fueled by the kingdom of Satan. Nothing in this world can offer true peace and happiness. Do not be deceived by the promises of the world.
In the name of Jesus, you will discover the mystery of God. Through His name, you will experience the power of God. The name of Jesus is the master key that opens every door.
Once Jesus opens a door, no one can shut it (Revelation 3:8). Behind that door are great and unsearchable things that God has prepared for you (Jeremiah 33:3). When you discover them, you will testify to what you have seen and heard. This is the privilege and blessing of evangelism and missions.
So, what is the great mystery within the name of Jesus? Humanity is without rest and peace because of separation from God. No worldly method can restore that relationship. People wander through life searching for meaning, but nothing they possess can stop the disasters they face. They cannot escape the power of Satan, sin, and hell.
Motivated by His great love for us, God placed all our problems on Christ—the True King, True Priest, and True Prophet. When we believe in the name of Jesus, the power of Satan is broken: “The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work” (1 John 3:8).
Jesus solved every problem of life. He removed the root cause—Satan. Through Christ, God delivered us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His beloved Son (Colossians 1:13).
When we pray in the name of Jesus, God dispatches His angelic armies, invisible to our eyes, to carry out His will (Hebrews 12:22). Aware of our weakness, He sends His angels to serve those who will inherit salvation (Hebrews 1:14).
You belong to the kingdom of heaven. The moment you believed in Jesus’ name, God granted you heavenly citizenship and blessed you with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 1:3).
This doesn’t mean we don’t need anything in the world, but we must first experience the spiritual blessings of God. Without these foundational blessings, we may end up living like unbelievers—something that is not fitting for God’s children.
Therefore, we must pray to our glorious Father, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, asking Him to give us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that we may know Him better (Ephesians 1:17).
We also ask that God open the eyes of our hearts so we may understand the hope to which we are called, and the riches of His glorious inheritance in His people.
God’s power is at work in us who believe. It is the same mighty strength He used to raise Christ from the dead and seat Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 1:18–20).
Remember, if you believe that Jesus is the Christ, you already possess everything: “That they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:2–3).
Listen to Paul’s confession after discovering this truth: “But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord… I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him” (Philippians 3:7–9).
This is the incredible grace of God revealed in Christ. Even now, Jesus is praying for us: “They are still in the world. Holy Father, protect them by the power of Your name—the name You gave Me” (John 17:11).
Nothing saves like the name of Jesus. Nothing protects like His name. Nothing empowers like His name. Only with His name, one can overcome Satan, sin, or hell (Acts 4:12).
So hold firmly to His name. Use His name. Proclaim His name to all nations. Heal the world through the power of His name.
Prayer. Father, I thank You for the name of Jesus Christ—the name above every name. By the power of His name, I know I will overcome the world and bring people back to You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
