Hymn
Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing
Robert Robinson
Come, Thou Fount of every blessing;
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
Sung by flaming tongues above;
Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it,
Mount of God’s unchanging love!
Here I raise my Ebenezer;
Hither by Thy help I’m come;
And I hope, by Thy good pleasure,
Safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
Wandering from the fold of God;
He, to rescue me from danger,
Interposed His precious blood.
O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let that grace now, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart; O take and seal it;
Seal it for thy courts above.
Confession of Faith
The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
…Maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Our Lord,
…Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
…Born of the Virgin Mary,
…Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
…Was crucified, dead, and buried.
He descended into hell.
The third day He rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven,
…And is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty;
From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
The holy universal Church,
The communion of saints,
The forgiveness of sins,
The resurrection of the body
And life everlasting. Amen.
Scripture Reading
Acts 11:1-18
The apostles and the believers throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God. 2 So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcised believers criticized him 3 and said, “You went into the house of uncircumcised men and ate with them.”
4 Starting from the beginning, Peter told them the whole story: 5 “I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision. I saw something like a large sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to where I was. 6 I looked into it and saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, reptiles and birds. 7 Then I heard a voice telling me, ‘Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.’
8 “I replied, ‘Surely not, Lord! Nothing impure or unclean has ever entered my mouth.’
9 “The voice spoke from heaven a second time, ‘Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.’ 10 This happened three times, and then it was all pulled up to heaven again.
11 “Right then three men who had been sent to me from Caesarea stopped at the house where I was staying. 12 The Spirit told me to have no hesitation about going with them. These six brothers also went with me, and we entered the man’s house. 13 He told us how he had seen an angel appear in his house and say, ‘Send to Joppa for Simon who is called Peter. 14 He will bring you a message through which you and all your household will be saved.’
15 “As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning. 16 Then I remembered what the Lord had said: ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ 17 So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?”
18 When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, “So then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.”
Message
Those Who Can Evangelize and Do Missions
Pastor Ryu Kwang Su
Genesis 37:11, Genesis 45:1–5 – When Joseph spoke about world evangelization, Jacob kept it in his heart. One day, Joseph became the governor and fulfilled world evangelization.
Exodus 2:1–10, Exodus 14:19 – This was the covenant that Moses heard from his mother. On Moses’ path, the angel of the Lord went before him and protected him from behind.
1 Samuel 1:9–11, 1 Samuel 7:1–15, 1 Samuel 17:1–47 – Hannah prayed holding onto this covenant, and this covenant arose in Samuel through the Mizpah Movement. Also, it arose through David when he destroyed Goliath and gained victory over the Philistines.
Daniel 3:8–24, Daniel 6:10–22, Esther 4:1–15 – Those who held onto the covenant that Isaiah gave testified of God’s work in Babylon. Upon Daniel, who held this covenant, God’s work arose so powerfully that he even saved the king. Through Esther, who held this covenant, the nation was saved and the door to world evangelization was opened.
Acts 13, Acts 16, Acts 19 – These same works are still taking place today.
Those who can evangelize and do missions – Because our ability alone cannot accomplish world evangelization, it is enough to simply hold onto the covenant. Those who hold and believe in this covenant are the ones who can evangelize and do missions.
▣ Introduction – Acts 11:1–18 People Who Cannot Do Missions
The Jews’ way of thinking and our own abilities cannot accomplish world evangelization (Matthew 28:18–20, Acts 1:8). 1. They are bound by the past. 2. The current atmosphere. 3. Public opinion. 4. Systems. 5. Customs. 6. Following traditions cannot lead to world evangelization. Remnants must quickly recognize this and overcome it. 7. The Law blocked the entire gospel.
▣ Main Message – Acts 11:19–30 People Who Accomplished World Evangelization
1. The Scattered Ones (verse 19) – Those whose destinies were changed and who changed the destinies of others.
1) Genesis 13:18 – From the day Abraham understood the Word God had given (Genesis 12:1–3), his destiny was completely overturned.
2) The 7 remnants – Their destinies were changed because they held onto this covenant.
3) The sent ones – Though they seemed like scattered ones, they were those sent by God.
▷ Remnants may seem abandoned, but they are the remaining ones. They may appear as wanderers, but they are conquerors. The gospel is what blocks the spiritual epidemic across the world.
2. Grace (verse 23) – Eyes: “He saw the grace of the Lord.” His eyes were opened. 1) Past, present, future (blessing) – The gospel transforms the past, present, and future into blessings.
2) Problems, conflicts, crises (answers) – The gospel turns problems, conflicts, and crises into answers.
3) The throne (restoration) – The gospel restores the bartizan, journey, and guidepost of the throne that Christ gave. The background of the throne is our background. Believe this.
3. Disciples (verse 26) – 24, 25, eternity – A great number of disciples arose. They were those who had seen 24, 25, and eternity.
1) Matthew 28:1–20 – “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
2) Mark 16:15–20 – Wherever you go, those possessed by demons and the sick will be healed.
3) Acts 1:1–14 – Persecution will become the beginning of the work.
▷ Those who opened their eyes to this were the people of the Antioch Church. They could not help but carry out world missions. Pastors must have no reasons, motives, or worries. If they hold to only the gospel, everything will be resolved.
▣ Conclusion – The Answers to Come
- Acts 27:24 – Go to the place that faces crisis, give the Word, and calm the storm.
- Acts 28:30–31 – No one can block the gospel.
- Romans 15:23 – You will go as far as Spain. 4. Romans 16:25–27 – God will reveal to you what He has kept hidden.
▷ Wait with the strength that God gives. Only! “Only” is the word that revives everything.
