Sanctuary Construction Dedicational Service
For the Future Generations (Joshua 4:1-18)
Summary
We need to know what kind of answer comes when we worship, when we pray. Not knowing this, most of the people complained in the wilderness. If you are a person of prayer, coming into the wilderness is itself the answer. That is why there was a generational change over 40 years. But the next generation had seen nothing. So they crossed the Jordan. After that, build a memorial for the sake of the next generation.
Word, Soul, Answer – When we receive the Word, it already comes upon our soul in that moment. This itself is the answer.
Throne, Nation, Work – At this moment, the Triune God begins His work from the throne. God’s kingdom begins to come. Darkness is also broken. No one can stop the day this is fulfilled. This is the work of God’s kingdom.
▣ Introduction_ Testimony has come. We must grasp certain testimony. This becomes the covenant.
1. Exodus
2. Passing through the wilderness
3. They overcame everything centered on the tabernacle. Every household faced the tabernacle, and God protected them with the pillar of fire and the pillar of cloud.
▷ “The gospel will be testified to all nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14)
▣ Main_ It must be engraved in the soul.
1. Hold onto the testimony of the ark of the covenant – the feet of the one who carried the ark
1) Word – the Word that never changes
2) Power – only Aaron’s staff budded. This refers to the power that comes through the Word and worship.
3) Protection – He gave manna.
▷ Do not worry about anything; make it 300%.
2. Hold onto the testimony of the tabernacle (temple). The ark of the covenant was inside the tabernacle.
1) Holy of Holies, Holy Place – the Holy of Holies (where the ark was) signifies the throne. The Holy Place explains Christ. Christ opened the closed door so we could enter the Holy of Holies.
2) 12 Tribes – the priest’s garment bore the names of the 12 tribes. The lamp was kept lit 24 hours. Ministers must pray 24 hours holding all the people before God.
3) The blessing of the three festivals is always present within the tabernacle.
3. The secret of world evangelization – show this to the next generation. “This memorial shall be a sign. It shall remain forever.” (verses 6-7)
1) Exodus – the next generation did not see the Exodus.
2) Red Sea – the next generation did not see the Red Sea part.
3) Jordan – let this fact be known to the next generation.
▷ Fully make known the 7·7·7 bartizan, journey, and guidepost.
▣ Conclusion_ God’s Word must be embedded in your soul and mind to connect to the throne.
1. Record (3 Eras) – Leave your footprints at the temple. Form a special team and prepare what is most evangelistic and most biblical. The next generation and the Remnants of the 5,000 tribes must come and see it.
2. Healing – this is to bring about a summit.
3. Spiritual Emperor – you must be sent knowing that you are the spiritual emperor who revives the emperor.
▷ When this (the Main point) is missed, the whole world perishes; when this (the Main point) is restored, the whole world lives. Historical evidence has come. “The gospel will be testified to all nations, and then the end will come.” You are the spiritual emperor who saves the emperor.
Transcript
We need to know what kind of answer comes when we worship, when we pray. Not knowing this, most people complained in the wilderness. “Why on earth did you bring us out here?” they said. “There’s no visible answer right now, so why are you making us die?” They said this even though they weren’t dying. So many people joined in agreeing with them. This got to the point where Moses fell prostrate before God. Some people even tried to stone Moses. It was because they didn’t know what the answer was.
“For the Sake of the Next Generation” (Joshua 4:1-18)
If you are a person of prayer, coming into the wilderness is itself the answer. We should say, “It’s fine even if we die here. We must go this path for the sake of our next generation.” “Our coming into the wilderness is a tremendous answer” — that’s what we should be saying. But instead there was complaining and an uproar. So people listen well to that kind of talk even when they don’t believe God’s Word. So in God’s sight, most of those people could not be brought into the land of Canaan. Right? So God had no choice but to drag it out for 40 years. It was a generational change. They should have gone straight in, but this next generation had seen nothing. So they crossed the Jordan. After crossing the Jordan, they set up a memorial for the sake of the next generation.
→ [ Word | Soul | Answer ]
We say things like this now because we don’t know what actually happens when we pray. What already happens first when we pray, without fail, is this: when we receive the Word, God’s Word already comes upon our soul. This itself becomes the answer. This itself is the blessing. There’s nothing more to hope for beyond this. The Word has come. Right? Now, to a person without faith, this seems to have no value at all. And so they suffer because of it. When a great wound is engraved in your thoughts, it takes root in your soul. This connects with darkness, and on that day people commit suicide or kill others. It becomes like that. Not knowing this, we don’t realize that when the answer has come, when we’ve received the Word, this is the answer. That’s why last year alone, more than 1,200 people committed suicide in the state of California in the U.S. In California alone. It’s shocking. It’s because they don’t know this.
– [ Throne, Nation, Work ]
How does the answer come, then? The Triune God begins His work from the throne. As I mentioned during our Remnant worship, the work already began when Daniel took hold of the covenant. So people who only know what they see with their eyes don’t understand this. God’s kingdom begins to come. At this time, tremendous things happen. Darkness is also broken, but because it’s unseen, people say nothing is happening. No one can stop the day this — the work of God’s kingdom — is fulfilled. The work of God’s kingdom. Jesus explained it. He spoke specifically. It will be fulfilled in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. That’s what He was talking about.
▣ Introduction_ [Testimony]
But certain testimony has come. We must hold onto testimony. This becomes the covenant. Right?
1. Exodus
No one believed it. The Exodus happened. It happened, right? Where is there a greater answer than this? After coming out of the Exodus, they talked nonsense. Their spiritual eyes had become this dim. They should have said, “We came out through the Exodus. This is a miracle.” But instead they said, why did you bring us out here? They said the opposite. Strangely, people listen well to those who speak with unbelief. Because these people spoke, it came to this: “We can’t go, let’s go back.”
2. Passing through the wilderness
Something unbelievable happened. They passed through the wilderness. They arrived. Joshua and everyone made it all the way to the Jordan.
3. Tabernacle-centered
They actually had nothing. In some ways it looked like they had run away, in some ways like they’d been liberated, in some ways like they’d been driven out — to some people it looked that way. Why do we care so much about building the temple? Because in the wilderness, they overcame everything by being tabernacle-centered. They had no strength to fight. But by being tabernacle-centered — this is something hard to understand, but the testimony came. Those who complained probably didn’t do this, but those who prayed set the direction of their households around the tabernacle. And because the tabernacle had to move as they journeyed through the wilderness, there was much inconvenience, but even so, God led them by the pillar of cloud and the pillar of fire. Going through such a difficult desert must have been hard. But God led them with the pillar of fire at night, and the pillar of cloud when it was too hot. That is testimony. Right?
We must hold onto testimony — we mustn’t hold onto things unrelated to the Word. We must hold onto testimony. No matter what anyone says, the Remnants who will evangelize the world will conquer the world. Right? “The gospel will be testified to all nations, and then the end will come.” Jesus said this. He said this would happen at the end. Jesus said it doesn’t matter. Right? He said it doesn’t matter. “The gospel will be testified to all nations, and then the end will come.” “But there’s chaos happening right now, what do we do?” He said, “It is not yet the end.” Jesus said it’s not the end. Even now in our country there are doomsday cultists. They say it’s the end, right now, this instant. If it were really the end right now, you’d stop sending your own children to school first. But they say the end has come while still sending their kids to school. There are still people who haven’t heard the gospel. So there have been people like this since long ago. “It’s the end now, the end! The end!” Work too — like that. They won’t even go to work. Truly, “believers” who don’t go to work. This kind of thing happens.
▣ Main_ [Soul]
We must hold onto certain testimony. Three secrets.
1. The testimony of the ark of the covenant
First. As the priest carried the ark of the covenant into the river, the water stopped; when they came out, it flowed again — that’s the story right now. This is the testimony of the ark of the covenant. We must hold onto this. This must be in our secret — that’s how a temple gets built, that comes as an answer. This must be engraved in my soul. Without question, we must receive the answer right now.
1) Word
What is inside the ark of the covenant? It contains the Word that never changes forever. Right? That’s inside the ark of the covenant. Aaron’s staff budded. Only Aaron’s staff budded.
2) Power
This refers to the power that comes through God’s Word and worship. The dry staff budded. Right? That’s what’s inside the ark of the covenant.
3) Protection
We worry a lot about “how will I get through this wilderness journey?” Don’t do that. When God’s people truly had nothing to eat, He sent manna down from heaven and fed the nation of Israel. He protected them all the way through. Don’t worry about anything; make it 300%. Don’t forget this. It’s not simply about setting up a memorial — this fact existed, and within it, the feet of the one who carried the ark of the covenant matter. Right? It’s not so much the priest’s foot as the foot of the one carrying the ark. It’s that important.
2. The testimony of the tabernacle (temple)
Where was this ark of the covenant? Though it moved, it was inside the tabernacle. This is the temple. We must hold onto this testimony.
1) Holy of Holies, Holy Place
Inside this tabernacle there were two things: the Holy of Holies and the Holy Place. The Holy of Holies signifies the throne. The Holy Place is where the saints enter, and everything there — the lampstand and so on — explains Christ. There were these two. Inside the Holy of Holies was the ark of the covenant. On the day Christ was crucified, the curtain separating the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies was torn. Simply put, the veil in the temple was torn. The Jews were shocked. Christ opened the completely closed door so we could enter the Holy of Holies.
2) The 12 Tribes
Inside this tabernacle, the priest wore the recorded names of the 12 tribes. Today, when it came time to retrieve the stones from the Jordan, it was said that representatives of the 12 tribes should go in and retrieve them. Here is the answer ministers need to grasp. The names of the 12 tribes were recorded on the priest’s garment. The lamp was kept lit for 24 hours. Ministers must be that way — 24. Pray 24. So the term “12 tribes” means praying while holding all the people before God. 24, in the tabernacle. So the tribe of Levi was not given land to do this 24-hour duty. No land was given. Why? Because if they farmed, they couldn’t do this — do this instead. Then, since the other 11 tribes received land, they were told to give a tenth of it. That’s the fundamental meaning of the tithe. Why? Because the priests, representing the 12 tribes, had to pray. This is the kind of temple that’s needed.
When our church’s building is complete, I think this will be the best place for prayer. Talk to the city, don’t say anything else, arrange to place stone benches here and there, and get people to come often. Make beautiful lighting so that even the spirits that come can all climb up and see it. Why? Because there’s no environment this good for resting and praying anywhere in downtown Busan. Really, look for yourself. In my case, even if given land where cars can’t be parked downtown, we wouldn’t go. The Emmanuel Seoul service now — it’s such a wonderful place to pray. It’s amazing how God has prepared everything exactly according to prayer. If we develop the area behind it, it will be an amazing place, a place for prayer. Coincidentally, Emmanuel Changwon and Ulsan are the same way, right now. Such a wonderful system for prayer and gaining spiritual strength is being built exactly right.
3) The Three Festivals
There was something even more important here. The people only observed this once a year, but in fact this blessing of the three festivals always existed inside the tabernacle. Right? Properly sanctifying these festivals meant keeping them together with the people — but inside the tabernacle, this was always present. This kind of temple is needed.
3. The secret of world evangelization – (the next generation)
Isn’t the more important thing the third point of today’s text? The secret of world evangelization is the next generation. You may seem weak, but that’s not so — the secret of world evangelization is the next generation. So show them this. Verse 6 says “it shall be a sign,” this memorial being set up is the sign, and verse 7 says “it shall remain forever.”
1) Exodus
This next generation did not see the Exodus. Right?
2) Red Sea
A tremendous thing happened. The Red Sea parted, but they didn’t see it.
3) Jordan
So now they’ve come before the Jordan. Let this fact be known to the next generation. If we go by the Word Christ completed, fully make known the 777 bartizan, journey, and guidepost. That’s what this is about.
▣ Conclusion
God’s Word must be embedded in your soul, your thoughts — this is what connects to the throne.
1. Record (3 Eras)
So be sure to leave your footprints at the temple. What is this? The 3 Eras. There must be footprints. Your grandchildren, granddaughters and grandsons must see this and say, “Our grandfather and our parents walked this path.” There must be a record. Foreign TCKs, CCKs, and NCKs who come and see this should say, “Ah, so that’s how it is!” A special team should be formed to prepare this, thinking from now, “What is the most evangelistic and most biblical thing to do?” Record. Leaving footprints. Your name must be there. So that “I prayed for such-and-such nation, I did such-and-such” must exist, so that people from that nation can come, see it, and say, “Oh! You prayed for us.” The next generation too, and the Remnants of the 5,000 tribes must come and see it.
I once went into a Freemason hall. They asked me if I was a Mason. I said no, I was just visiting. They asked, “Where did you come from?”, I said, “I came from Korea.” They said this. They told me to wait a moment. Without our even asking, they brought out records. It turned out these people had already entered our country around the time of the Korean War. They showed us all the records they had about that. “Ah, I see.” Those who worship idols today, when they build temples, seem to carve their names all over the stones and gather them together. If we’re not careful, we could end up worse off than unbelievers in this respect. Have you been to the Holocaust museum in Washington? What was there? It’s a wrong thing they haven’t realized, but even so, they had gathered together everything about the 2,000 years the Jewish people spent stateless and suffering. Some through video, some through images. As I’ve mentioned before, what’s at the very last exit? What’s on the floor? The shoes taken off their ancestors who were killed, remember? They had all been gathered there. What does that stir up in Jewish people, even those who haven’t grasped the gospel, the moment they see it? Real patriotism arises. I don’t know if that leads them to grasp the true gospel, but either way, they’ve done that. Japan has about 12 castles. They’re similar to each other, but if you go, you’ll find they’ve built truly enormous castles. About 12 places. Of course this is a matter of idol worship, which must be recognized, but still, going there gives you the sense, “So this is Japan!” That very achievement itself makes people say, “Wow, this is amazing!” — and this is what shapes the mindset of the next generation. That’s why Japanese people becoming evangelized is really so difficult. It’s a miracle, truly a miracle.
2. Healing – Summit
Now, without our own footprints like this, how can the next generation see it and gain spiritual insight, and how could people from other countries see it either? We’re not trying to do this with records alone. Many multi-ethnic people and many Remnants who have come to our church are in urgent need. They must be healed. Only then can there be a summit. This is what we are trying to do.
3. Spiritual Emperor
So this year’s theme is not just at that level, but rather “You are the spiritual emperor who revives the emperor” — you must be made to know this and be sent out.
Now then, you know that great king called Alexander, right? When I look at him, it seems he grasped the gospel remarkably well. Simply put, he conquered all of Greece and conquered Macedonia. So he asked an important question: “Why is Israel such a strange nation?” It utterly collapses, but then it comes back to life completely. This kept repeating. When it dies, it dies completely, and then one day it comes back completely to life. Alexander realized that this kept repeating. He was clever. Alexander thought, “What is this?” One clever minister gave him an answer. “To understand Israel, Your Majesty, you must look at the Bible.” “Is that so?” So this man began to focus intently on the Bible. One answer came out clearly. When Israel let go of the gospel, everything completely died. He saw this. It dies slowly, completely. We shouldn’t seek answers based only on what we see with our eyes. It dies slowly, completely, entirely. Then one day, whenever the gospel was restored within Scripture, it came back to life.
So this king issued a royal decree. “Translate the Bible into our nation’s language.” To do that, the translators would have to be scholars. They would need to know at least two languages. The original text of the Old Testament was written in Hebrew. So they had to know Hebrew. Trying to translate this into Greek meant translating it into the Greek language. So they gathered scholars fluent in both languages. Alexander recruited them like that. Seventy were gathered in this recruitment. So the king gave a command. “I will provide everything, so translate this quickly. Translate God’s Word quickly.” But how long did this take? It took 100 years. In the process of translating, wouldn’t people die? They would need replacements. This is God’s amazing plan. How can this be done? If someone dies, replace them. It was finished in 100 years. But by then, Alexander had already died. It was his son, Ptolemy, who saw it completed in his time. That famous Bible is called the Septuagint. In English, it’s called the Septuagint, the 70-translator Bible.
What does this tell us? It’s an amazing history that testifies to this. When this (the Main point) is missed, the whole world perishes; when this is restored, the whole world lives. Historical evidence has come. It was Alexander’s command, made by one who saw through history, that led to this. One day, people who see through history emerge. That’s how Rome declared Christianity its state religion. They foresaw the times. “Ah, we were wrong.” “Christ is King of kings and Lord of lords” — they declared this. When this happened, tremendous things occurred. Who most blocked the Christian gospel? The Jews, right? Then Rome declared it the state religion. What happens to the Jews then? Strange things begin to happen. This is history. However complicated it may be, just as Christ said, “The gospel will be testified to all nations, and then the end will come.”
So has the answer come a little, or not? We shouldn’t be at that level. Does it come or not? We shouldn’t be at that level. Even if something as big as what happened to the seven Remnants happens along the way, we should still watch with composure. Right? Even if something good happens, we shouldn’t be swept away by it. We must open our spiritual eyes and see. So you are the spiritual emperor who will save the world, save the emperor. So this term’s theme song is a bit shocking, it’s a song that will make the devil completely faint. I bless you in the name of Jesus Christ to remain within the answer this week as well.
Prayer
We thank You, God. May Your new grace overflow to us this week as well. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.d
