「The Greatest Incident for the Early Church」
(Ac 3:1-12)
Acts 3:1-12
01 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon.
02 Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts.
03 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money.
04 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!”
05 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.
06 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”
07 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong.
08 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God.
09 When all the people saw him walking and praising God,
10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
11 While the man held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon’s Colonnade.
12 When Peter saw this, he said to them: “Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?”
Summary
Which covenant must we hold in order to receive an answer?
▣ Introduction
Look at Genesis 41:38 and the evidence of RT 7. The issue was not that Joseph became prime minister of Egypt. It was that he clearly saw that God had a plan even in the midst of suffering, on the way to becoming a slave. He knew that God was sending him. It is not important that a great miracle happened. Moses knew the power of the gospel, which is the blood covenant. David had, by faith, the reason he could fight and defeat Goliath. If there is no gratitude at all, it is taken away. God is able, but the problem is our faith. What matters is the faith that Oceania can be saved. “I will be with you with my mighty hand.” Believing that fact is what matters. Take with you the faith that believes in God’s absolute covenant. Because when there is faith, something spiritual is bound to happen, faith overcomes darkness.

Peter raised up, by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, a man everyone knew had been lame from birth. Why did this work happen through the name of Christ? We must know that timetable and that faith.
1. Disasters – Israel entering an age of disaster
1) Acts 4:1-12 Israel was interested only in the law, and interested only in material things.
2) John 2:12-25 The priests had none of the three courtyards.
3) Acts 11:1-18 They said, “Why do you go to eat at a Gentile’s house?” These people could not raise up the lame.
▷ No one can heal, but when the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth is proclaimed, a great shockwave occurs.
2. Crisis – When Israel faced a great crisis
1) AD 70 Soon, Israel would be destroyed. It was at this time that the name of Christ was proclaimed.
2) AD 79 Soon Pompeii would erupt, and trouble would begin coming to Rome, so take this name with you.
3) AD 313 Rome, which had persecuted the gospel, began to accept the gospel.
▷ Satan trembles the moment the word Christ is mentioned. Go in my name. Take with you the name of Christ, which overcomes the forces of darkness and subdues all things.
3. Time – God has a timetable.
1) Acts 3:1-4 He was lame from birth.
2) Acts 3:5 He looked at them intently.
3) Acts 3:6, 12 “Rise up and walk in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.” Peter said this. “It is not we who raised him up. God has glorified him.”
▣ Conclusion
1. Affairs – Other devotion cannot solve it. “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.” This is spiritual service.
2. Light – When the name of Christ is proclaimed, light is proclaimed and delivered. It is the moment darkness is utterly broken.
3. Mark 16:15-20 “Cast out demons in my name. Lay hands on the sick in my name, and they will recover.” Philippians 3:21 “The name that subdues all things”—the name of Christ. There is the prayer of identity and the prayer of authority.
▷ Take hold of this name as a covenant. Satan knows it, and is broken. The door of world evangelization is set to open before you.

What kind of answer should missionaries who came from overseas carry with them? How do our many Remnants and missionaries who came from Oceania receive their answer? Remnants are now taking part in the WRC—what covenant must they hold to receive an answer? Let’s first look at the introduction.
▣ Introduction
1. Gen. 41:38
As you know, Joseph became prime minister in Egypt. That’s what happened—he became prime minister. Many people say, “Wow, a miracle happened.” “Wow, how did such a great thing happen?” If we think that way, we don’t receive an answer. It’s someone else’s business, Joseph’s business. What must you take hold of? It is not the issue that Joseph became prime minister of Egypt. It is Joseph’s faith, which never wavered amid this great suffering. Right? You must take hold of that. When Joseph met his brothers, he said this: his brothers had sold him, but God had sent him ahead of them. When he went as a slave, he knew that God had sent him. This covenant is what matters. Enormous suffering came upon you, but here is God’s plan—Joseph saw this exactly. God called Moses. “Go to Pharaoh and tell him to let my people go.” Moses made excuses. “Will the people listen to me? Will Pharaoh listen to me?” At that time God said something important. “Tell him, take my people out and let them offer the blood sacrifice.” Moses understood these words. That is where the work happened. Moses knew the power of the gospel, which is called the blood covenant. What must we carry? It is not that a fact—a miracle happened, a great answer came—matters. In some sense, those miracles happened precisely because there was no faith, and God gave them. Look carefully at this Scripture. Goliath came to invade and wage war, and David won. Everyone knows this. What we must take hold of and carry today is not that. What is it? David had, by faith, the reason he could fight and win against Goliath. This is what matters. This is what we must carry. David was confident. “Today the LORD has delivered your neck into my hand.” He spoke with confidence. “You came with sword, spear, and javelin, but I have come in the name of the LORD, whom you have defied.” That’s what he said. This faith is what matters. Whether Goliath died or lived matters, but this is what matters. So there are people who feel no gratitude at all even when someone helps them. Then the one helping loses strength too. God is the same. If we have no gratitude at all? We are robbing ourselves of it. As we hold onto the word and take hold of the covenant, what must we take hold of? It’s not that the Red Sea was parted. It is the faith concerning that event that happened when the Red Sea parted—that’s what I’m talking about. Take that with you. God is able to do it. The problem is our faith. What matters is the faith that Oceania can be saved. God said, “I will be with you with my mighty hand.” That is what we believe. It matters.

Look now at the testimonies of the current 7 Remnants. You must have that faith. You go into crisis carrying that faith. You go to the WRC conference carrying that covenant. Many shockwaves will occur. The king said to kill the prophet. But that prophet was hidden. By Obadiah. How did Obadiah accomplish such a great thing? That’s not it. Did Obadiah fight the king? No. What is it? Within the covenant God gave, he feared nothing and devoted himself with that faith. That became the Mt. Carmel movement, the Mt. Horeb movement, the Dothan movement. Take that faith with you. Does God’s word tell us to talk about Obadiah? Take with you the faith in that power and that work that God did together with Obadiah. Look at Babylon. What was the characteristic of these people? It was natural, inevitable, absolute. Death had come, yet naturally they were not afraid. The characteristic of the three men was that they were not afraid at all. “If we die, we die.” Was dying their hobby? No, it isn’t. It is faith that believes God’s absolute covenant. Every Remnant must carry that. It’s certain. That is why, when there is faith, work is bound to happen. When there is faith, something spiritual is bound to happen. That is why we can overcome darkness. That’s exactly what I’m talking about.
“The Great Incident of the Early Church”
Now, today a great incident has broken out in the early church. What is happening right now? All the people of Israel know the lame man who sat at the temple gate called Beautiful. Even people from foreign countries know him. Why? Because they came to keep the feast. This man had been lame from birth. Because he sat at the temple gate called Beautiful, anyone would know him. Peter raised up this lame man. It caused an uproar. All of Israel was turned upside down at once. And it happened through the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth—”Rise up and walk,” he said. For you, this may seem obvious, but to the Pharisees of that time it was an outrageous thing. Do you know what it is? What was the reason they crucified Jesus and condemned the early church as heretical? The reason. The reason is one thing: do not talk about Christ. “Don’t talk about Christ.” That’s it. “It’s blasphemy.” But he told him to rise up and walk in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. So legally it became grounds. They had said not to speak the name of Christ. But Peter raised him up in the name of Christ. That’s how the law worked. They had said not to speak in the name of Christ, but he did it anyway—so that’s illegal, they said. Isn’t that how the law works? Whether it’s right or wrong is a separate question—the issue is what the law says. That’s what they used against him. This is the story of when they put Peter on trial. “We told you not to talk about Christ—why did you?” That’s it. Isn’t it strange? It was a criminal charge, a charge. What the Jews had made into law was: don’t talk about Christ. The spiritual meaning is enormous. Satan trembles the moment you talk about Christ. That’s what he’s telling you not to do. At that time Peter said, “There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Now, how did Peter, who once trembled even before a servant girl, become like this? Why did the work happen through the name of Christ? We must know that timetable and that faith.

1. Disaster
First. Israel is now entering an age of disaster. Right now. An age of disaster. Why? All of Israel is interested only in the law.
1) Acts 4:1-12
They have no interest in anything else. They come with the law and say, “Why did you say the name of Christ when we told you not to?”
2) John 2:12-25
These people are interested only in material things. The priests completely lack the three courtyards. This is when Jesus went to the temple and grew angry. The three courtyards had been completely destroyed.
3) Acts 11:1-18
In Acts 11:1-18, it says, “Why do you go eat at a Gentile’s house?” These people cannot raise up the lame. At this point Peter said, “What I have I give you. Rise up and walk in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.” No one can heal—not the priests, not the scribes. In other words, not even Peter could. What did Peter say? “I give you what I have. Rise up and walk in the name of Jesus of Nazareth.” When the name of Christ is proclaimed, you may not realize it, but darkness causes a great shockwave.
2. Crisis
Second. When Israel faced a great crisis.
1) AD 70
Soon Israel would be destroyed. This is when the name of Christ was proclaimed. There are times you preach the gospel without realizing it, but a tremendous thing happens afterward.
2) AD 79
Signs appear. Soon Pompeii would erupt and trouble would begin coming to Rome. So take this name and go. This name was proclaimed. There will be people who simply cannot understand this. If there is such a pastor, understand that he may not be God’s child. In the name of Christ. Satan is afraid of nothing. Your strength, he is not afraid of. The word Christ alone makes him tremble. America is in an uproar right now. They are deleting the letters “Christ” and “Christmas” now. It worries me, whether America is doing this. They are removing the word Christ. Who ordered it? No one knows. It was Satan who did it. He trembles.
3) AD 313
One day, Rome, which had persecuted the gospel, began accepting it. Facing such an enormous age, he said, “Go in my name.” It’s a simple statement. “No need for beasts, no need for blood. Go in my name.” How simple is that? “Overcome the forces of darkness, subdue all things—go carrying the name of Christ.” Every Remnant must take hold of that as a covenant. You must save your nation. It’s not limited to that.
3. Time
God has a timetable. Right? It says they looked intently at the lame man.
1) Acts 3:1-4
Verse 5 says they looked at him intently. Before that, more importantly, it says he had “never been able to stand since birth.”
2) Acts 3:5
They had seen him before, but they looked at him intently.
3) Acts 3:6, 12
That’s when these words came out. “Rise up and walk in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.” As the uproar broke out, Peter said, “It is not we who raised him up. God has glorified him.” This is the incident. You must carry this. You must carry this faith. You must carry this timetable. You must carry this incident. You must carry the thing that topples darkness across the whole world.
▣ Conclusion
Let me conclude.
1. Affairs
We have three kinds of devotion. Giving a coin to the lame man is also devotion. Right? Also, the lame man in front couldn’t walk. Bringing him to the temple gate is also devotion. Giving a coin is also devotion. But it doesn’t solve anything. He must rise up. Rising up isn’t the important thing itself—there are many people who rise up and walk around. “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.” That’s what was said. What a tremendous timetable. Our spiritual service.
2. Light
So this is the day it is proclaimed for the first time. It is the day it is proclaimed entirely as light. When the name of Christ is proclaimed everywhere, light is proclaimed. Darkness knows it. Where this Christ is proclaimed, light is delivered. Darkness is completely broken. This was delivered for the first time. Peter, for the first time. This is the promise of Scripture.
3. Mark 16:15-20, Philippians 3:21
Jesus made a promise. “Cast out demons in my name.” Jesus made a promise to you. Look at you. “Lay hands on the sick in my name, and they will recover.” He clearly said this. Paul spoke like this. “It is the name that subdues all things.” In the name of Christ. There are two kinds of prayer. There’s the prayer to God, “God, please heal this lame man.” That’s the prayer of identity. And there’s the word to the lame man, “In the name of Christ I command you, rise up and walk.” That’s the prayer of authority. Both are prayer.
You must now completely take hold of the covenant in this name. Then darkness will know. Satan knows and is broken. Before you the door of world evangelization is set to open. I bless you, in the name of Jesus Christ, to keep praying this week while carrying this, that it may become a week of experiencing evidence, and to see a great work at the Remnant Conference. Let’s pray.
Prayer. Grant that we may receive new grace this week, and that the amazing work of the name of Christ being proclaimed may take place. May all darkness be bound, and may the name of the Lord be proclaimed. Make us the leading agents of that answer. Make all the Remnants the leading agents who return home to shine this light, and let light shine upon Oceania so that 5,000 tribes may be saved. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
